Switch from Strong or Hevy without losing your history

Updated September 2026 · Takes about five minutes

Years of logged sessions are the main reason people don't switch trackers. Gymgress imports the CSV exports from both Strong and Hevy, so your PR charts and history come with you. Here's how, and what to expect.

Step 1: export from your current app

Strong

  1. Open Strong and go to Settings.
  2. Tap Export Strong Data.
  3. Save the CSV to Files on your iPhone.

Hevy

  1. Open Hevy and go to Profile → Settings.
  2. Tap Export Data.
  3. Save the CSV to Files.

Step 2: import into Gymgress

  1. Install Gymgress and create an account.
  2. Go to Settings → Import history.
  3. Pick Strong or Hevy, then choose the CSV from Files.
  4. Wait for the summary. Your sessions appear in History and on your strength-progress chart.

What carries over

What doesn't, and why

Imported workouts are kept separately from workouts logged in Gymgress and never count toward streaks, Rankings, club leaderboards, challenges, achievements or the PR records list, and they don't post to your friends' feed. That's deliberate: a leaderboard is only worth competing on if nobody can climb it with a pasted file. Your history is yours; the competition starts fresh for everyone, and your first PRs in Gymgress are ones your friends watched you set.

Routines and templates don't import yet. Rebuilding a plan takes a couple of minutes and there's no limit on how many you keep.

Coming from another app?

If your app exports a CSV, email it to [email protected] and I'll add a parser for it. Arrow, Fitbod and Jefit users have asked; the more requests, the sooner.

Should you switch at all?

Only if the social side matters to you. If you lift alone and you're happy with Strong or Hevy, stay. The honest comparison is here: Gymgress vs Strong vs Hevy.
